KINSTON, N.C. -

A La Grange man is listed in fair condition in the hospital and facing charges after being pinned under his SUV.

The Highway Patrol says Kevin Lee Potter, 34, of La Grange, was on his way to see his mother at the hospital when he ran a red light in 1998 Chevy Blazer and struck Betty Reyes, 45 of Faison driving a 2000 Jeep Cherokee.

Potter was ejected from his SUV and the Chevy Blazer landed on top of him. Firefighters from Lenoir County were able to lift the SUV off of Potter. He was then airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. His passenger, Christina Whitley, 43, of Kinston was taken to Vidant Medical Center by ambulance and is no longer listed as a patient at the hospital. Reyes was taken to Lenoir Memorial Hospital where she was treated and released.

Potter now faces reckless driving charges and a stop light violation.
