RALEIGH, N.C. -

(AP) - The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles says the mobile unit which provides service to northeastern North Carolina is being parked indefinitely because it needs mechanical repairs.

A statement from the division said efforts are under way to determine what repairs are needed to get the unit back on the road as soon as possible.

Mobile unit stops affected are in Scotland Neck, Windsor, Gatesville, Currituck, Jackson, Plymouth, Columbia, Swan Quarter and Hatteras.

Mobile units take driver license services to remote areas of the state, offering original and renewal license issuance, written, sign and road testing.
