RALEIGH, N.C. -

Twelve years ago, Greenville, N.C., rapper Petey Pablo famously positioned North Carolina on the Billboard Hot 100 charts with his song "Raise Up."

"North Carolina, come on and raise up," Petey Pablo called out. "Take your shirt off, twist it around your head, spin it like a helicopter."

The song has since become an anthem of sorts at UNC football games, with the Marching Tar Heels playing the chorus of the song after the defense makes a third down stop.

But of the 600 registered voters surveyed by Public Policy Polling, only 8 percent of respondents said they'd even taken their shirt off and spun it over their head like a helicopter. At least, only 8 percent of respondents admitted to ever spinning their shirt like a helicopter.

Another 9 percent of respondents said they can't remember whether they've ever spun their shirt like a helicopter.

The poll further found a higher percentage of 18 to 29 years old had spun their shirt like a helicopter, with 18 percent saying they had.

Of the voters surveyed, 13 percent of Democrats said they'd spun their shirt like a helicopter, while only 5 percent said they had.

PPP's surveys are conducted through automated telephone interviews.
