Adoptive mom of missing NC teen says girl is alive

(AP) - The adoptive mother of a North Carolina teenager missing for nearly two years says the girl is still alive and that one telephone call will clear up the mystery.

The Charlotte Observer reports (http://bit.ly/170mVgC ) that during her appearance on the "Dr. Phil" show on Tuesday, Casey Parsons said Erica Parsons isn't missing and is with her grandmother. Casey Parsons said the issue would be over if either Erica or her grandmother would pick up the telephone and call.

Casey and Sandy Parsons will appear on the show again on Wednesday. The two have maintained that their adopted daughter went to live with her biological grandmother in Asheville, but the Rowan County sheriff's office says that information hasn't checked out.

Federal, state and local authorities searched the Parsons' property last week.
