A driver was charged a day after hitting and killing a man on a scooter in Durham.
Durham police said James Byrd, of Durham, turned left onto U.S. Highway 15/501, in front of a scooter driven by 33-year-old Joshua Johnson.
Byrd was charged with failure to yield
right of way and misdemeanor death by vehicle, police said.
Johnson was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Byrd was not injured.
