NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -

Six Camp Lejeune Marines hauled in a 14-foot, 700-pound tiger shark off North Myrtle Beach last weekend.

It happened Saturday when they took a 43-foot charter boat out to go shark fishing while on a bachelor party.

They spotted the shark about three miles offshore in about 35 feet of water. Capt. Richard Long Jr. says they Marines looped a rope around its tail and dragged it backward until the shark drowned. He says he's never seen a shark that big pulled in by anyone.

Tiger sharks are one of the top three types of sharks involved in unprovoked fatal shark attacks according to The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
