Several hundred attend topless rally in Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Several hundred people attended a rally in Asheville to promote the right of women to go topless.

About a dozen women bared their breasts during the rally Sunday afternoon.

Last year's event attracted about the same numbers. The first event in 2011 sponsored by GoTopless.org attracted about 2,000 people and several dozen topless women.

Police reported no problems.

Organizer Jeff Johnson, of Huntsville, Ala., said the rally was designed to promote women's equality. His group says laws and social stigmas against women being topless in public are unfair.

Two people held signs with scripture they said show those at the event that the topless women were wrong.
