Woodhouse leaving NC Americans for Prosperity post

Posted: Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. -

North Carolina's longtime state director of the fiscal watchdog and conservative advocacy group Americans for Prosperity is stepping down from his post.

The group announced Monday that Dallas Woodhouse is leaving his job to pursue a business career related to politics.

The former television news journalist and government agriculture employee joined Americans for Prosperity in 2006 as Democrats controlled most of state government. He became state director the following year and led the group as government control shifted to Republicans after the 2010 elections.

In a news release, Woodhouse cited legislative advocacy successes during his tenure that included restrictions on involuntary annexation, lowered tax rates and decreased regulation and expanded school choice.

Deputy state director Chris Farr will lead the chapter as the group looks for a successor.
