Sanford man hit by train

SANFORD, N.C. -

A Sanford man was hit by a train Saturday evening at the intersection of Wicker and Moore streets.

Officers said Richard Lee Spears, 47, was hit by a southbound train as he was crossing the railroad tracks.

Spears was taken to UNC Hospitals for treatment. No other details about his injuries are known at this time
