Pirates to "Paint it Black" Thursday

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. -

The Pirates will "Paint It Black" for their Conference USA opener against Florida Atlantic Thursday night at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.

East Carolina unveiled new all-black Nike game uniforms during a team meeting at the Ward Sports Medicine Building Sunday night and the Pirate Nation is encouraged to participate in the promotion, which will include additional color-themed elements in the stadium on game day for the nationally-televised contest.

Each segment of the new uniform will be featured on www.ECUPirates.com for the public beginning Monday with pants, socks and gloves. Fans will have an opportunity to get a look at the jersey on Tuesday before the helmet will be introduced on Wednesday.

After making its debut, ECU will incorporate the new look with its existing apparel lineup of purple and white to offer the Pirates multiple combination options throughout the season.

Fox Sports 1 will air the 7:30 p.m. contest between the Owls (0-1) and Pirates (1-0).
