ATLANTIC BEACH, N.C. -

A trip to the beach turned dangerous for three women in Carteret County.

Lifeguards say there were two rescues Monday morning at Fort Macon State Park, near Atlantic Beach.

One rescue involved a young woman caught in a rip current.

The other rescue involved two surfers stranded 100 yards from shore with a broken surfboard leash.

Lifeguards say all three women are doing OK now.

They say they have issued many warnings, with crowds of people who came to the beach for Labor Day.
