NEW PORT RICHEY, FL (WFLA) -

Deputies arrested a woman in New Port Richey for shooting a man in the chest early Wednesday morning, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office report.

Deputies said they found the man on the roadway of the house at 12900 Duchess Ave. in New Port Richey around 3 o'clock in the morning. Authorities identified him as Richard Allen Maki, 42.

The man had a gunshot wound to the left side of his chest. Paramedics took him to Bayonet Point Hospital. Doctors expect him to survive, deputies said.

Before going to the hospital, Maki told deputies that Stephanie Ballog, 36, shot him. A witness saw the two get into an argument in the kitchen, then watched Ballog leave and come back with the gun.

The witness said he saw Ballog shoot at Maki.

PCSO deputies arrested Ballog in connection with this shooting. Authorities charged her with attempted murder. Detectives continue to investigate.
