DURHAM, N.C. -

Durham police are asking for information about an early morning robbery Friday on Mangum Street.

The robbery victim told Durham police officers he was sitting near the parking deck at 326 East Chapel Hill Street around 12:30 a.m. A male suspect armed with an assault rifle and a female approached him and told him to get up. The suspect then hit the victim on the back of his head with the gun. The suspect then knocked the victim to the ground.

Police said the male suspect and the victim struggled with each other while the female suspect stole cash from the victim's pockets.

Both suspects were last seen running on Orange Street toward Parrish Street.

Authorities said the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The suspect possessing the gun was described as black male in his late 20s or early 30s. He was said to stand around 5 feet 11 inches tall with a mustache and goatee. Police said he was dressed in black clothing.

The second suspect was described as a 20-year-old Hispanic female and dressed in black clothing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator A.E. Junker at (919) 560-4935, ext. 29416 or CrimeStoppers at (919) 683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers never have to identify themselves.
