MOST WANTED: Contractor accused of stealing $62K from client

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) -

Johnson City Police are on the trail of a man they say got thousand dollars to do a roofing job but never did any work.

Police want to find Jay Whaley, 51, and charge him with contractor fraud.   

"He was given $62,500 he came back to the victims and said 'I need some more money,'" said 
Steve Sherfey, Johnson City Police.  "He was given an additional $10 thousand dollars, and the work was not completed.  The building materials were picked up."

Sherfey said the incident happened May 10th.
