Walgreens to buy Kerr Drug

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. - A Raleigh-based drug store is about to become part of a major chain.
Walgreens will buy Kerr Drug.

Kerr Drug stores will keep their name, at least for a while.
Walgreens says it hasn't yet decided how to best integrate the stores into its operation.
Walgreens hopes the move will help them compete against more well established chains in North Carolina like Rite-Aid and CVS.
Last year, Kerr drugstores did nearly $400-million in sales.
