Police: Man wanted for stabbing hotel clerk in custody

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. -

A man wanted for a Sunday stabbing incident is in custody.

22-year-old Joshua Segura of 1906 Piney Green Road was taken into custody without incident by the Jefferson County (Alabama) Sheriff’s Department on charges of driving a stolen vehicle.  The vehicle was reported as stolen from S&N Automotive on Sunday.

Police obtained warrants Monday charging Segura with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury in the stabbing assault of a 65-year old desk clerk at the Liberty Inn on September 15.

Jacksonville Police are investigating the stabbing of hotel clerk.

On Sunday, Police say they received a call about a stabbing at the Liberty Inn on Lejeune Boulevard at 3:00a.m.

Police say a man came around the front desk and stabbed the clerk several times. Police say the suspect then ran out the front door towards Center Street. After searching the area, officers could not find the man responsible. Now they are asking for the public’s help in finding him.

Police say the suspect was last seen wearing a flannel looking shirt, blue jeans, and cowboy boots. They say he was also wearing a cowboy style belt with a large oval buckle. Police say was also wearing or carrying a straw cowboy hat.

Police say the victim is in critical condition and being treated at an area hospital.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Jacksonville Police department at (910) 938-6405 or Crimestoppers at (910) 938-3273. Crimestoppers is offering a $2,500 cash reward for information leading to an arrest.
