Rivera: Panthers need to 'get over the hump'

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -

Coach Ron Rivera says the Panthers have to find a way to close out games if they're ever going to take the next step as a football team.

The Panthers (0-2) surrendered a fourth quarter lead for the second straight week, this time in heartbreaking fashion giving up a 2-yard touchdown pass to Stevie Johnson with 2 seconds left in a 24-23 loss Sunday to the Buffalo Bills.

Rivera, who says he's not worried about his job, points out "it's time to get over the hump. We've been through this."

Since Rivera took over as head coach in 2011, the Panthers have lost 10 games they've held a lead in the fourth quarter - which according to STATS INC. ties with the Philadelphia Eagles for the most in the league.
