Sarasota bomb threat was against man, not school, deputies say

Posted: Updated:
SARASOTA COUNTY, FL -

A bomb threat allegedly made by a woman in Jacksonville to a man in Texas did not involve Fruitville Elementary School, Sarasota County detectives confirmed. It involved a school worker and the worker's private vehicle.

The threat was allegedly made Monday, according to SCSO report. Deputies initially thought the threat involved Fruitville Elementary. They conducted a thorough search of the school's property and facility after meeting with the school's staff and Sarasota County Schools security personnel.

The search revealed that the threat was against the school worker. The person who made the threat was not in the county, according to the deputies report.

Officials continue to investigate the threat. They say the heightened law enforcement presence at Fruitville Elementary Tuesday is out of an abundance of caution for safety and security.
