First Industry Partner Summit at Florida Polytechnic

Posted: Updated:

Florida Polytechnic University hosted its first Industry Partner Summit Tuesday at the university campus in Lakeland.

Over 50 leaders from 39 companies gathered to help shape the university's curriculum this year. Apple's vice president of education John Couch was the key note speaker.

"We are extremely excited that John Couch and Apple recognize Florida Poly's potential to change the way university students learn about science, technology, engineering and math," said Ava Parker, the university's chief operating officer.

The university is the newest member of the Florida State University System. Its science, technology, engineering and math dedicated curriculum will also focus on business management and leadership. The university officials hope the summit will help prepare students for the real world challenges in the industry.

Florida Polytechnic will welcome its inaugural class in the fall of 2014.
