Man jumps out of moving police car

Posted: Updated:

A suspected burglar tried to escape from a moving police car and it was caught on camera.

Police in Dayton, Ohio say 42-year old Eric Simmons was a suspect in a burglary two days before he was arrested on August 29th.

He was spotted walking on Main Street, arrested and placed in the back of the police cruiser without handcuffs.

When the car started, he was able to reach outside the open window to open the door and jump out.

Officers were able to immediately detain Simmons although he struggled to get away.

When police put him back in the car, he was wearing handcuffs. The suspect only suffered minor scrapes in the getaway attempt.
