Fort Bragg death involved different parachute

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Fort Bragg officials say an officer who died this week during training was using a parachute that is not routinely used by his unit.

Col. Darron L. Wright died during a training jump Monday. The Army is investigating his death.

A spokesman for the fort, Col. Kevin Arata, says Wright was using a more maneuverable parachute than the standard parachute that the unit usually uses. Paratroopers using the maneuverable MC-6 have special training.

White the investigation continues, the 18th Airborne Corps has suspended use of the MC-6
