Bankruptcy auction this week at Universal Health Care in St Pete

ST PETERSBURG, FL -

It's been about six months since federal agents raided Universal Healthcare headquarters in downtown St. Petersburg. The company declared bankruptcy and some regulators suspected fraud.

Agent stormed the building on March 23, and hundreds of employees lost their jobs. The doors to the office on 100 Central Ave. have been closed since. The office space will open again today and Wednesday for a bankruptcy auction.

"We've got everything from high end office furniture, to current computers, to art," Eric Rubin, an auctioneer with Moecker Auctions, said.

More than 4,000 items are up for grabs. It's not an absolute auction but a bankruptcy sale. Allen Klima showed up for the walk through. He's starting an insurance company in St. Petersburg.

"We're looking for office furniture," Klima said. "We figured used stuff would be a better bargain for us."

Moecker is auctioning off everything from a Chihuly to a creamer. Rubin expects some former Universal Healthcare Employees to attend the event.

"I'm sure that we'll have some of the old employees here looking to buy maybe their desk or some items or artwork they had an attachment to," Rubin said.

Auction dates: Sep.24-25 at 10:00 a.m.

Location: 100 Central Ave., St. Petersburg.
