JH Rose, DH Conley brace for Friday night showdown

Posted: Updated:

Unbeaten JH Rose will travel to once-beaten DH Conley on Friday night for WNCT-TV's Touchdown Friday Game of the Week.

The Rampants have been one of the early season surprises with five straight wins to start the season under first year coach Dave Wojtecki. Wojtecki replaced Todd Lipe, who lost his job as part of the controversy involving Conley's Maleek Gorham, who lost a year of eligibility in the same ordeal.

Thus added "bad-blood" to this match-up between schools just six and a half miles apart.

The Gorham controversy surfaced shortly after Conley beat Rose last season, though the initial questions on the player's eligibility dated back to August.

DH Conley comes into the match-up with just one loss. The Vikings blew a 21-0 lead with 9 minutes to go and fell to the Pam Pack 28-21. Rose's closest call came in a 6-3 road win at Wilmington Laney.
