Street leaning towards NC State

GREENVILLE, N.C. -

JH Rose is an undefeated 5-0 and defensive end Kentavious Street is a big reason for that early season success.

He's one of the most highly recruited athletes to ever come out of Greenville. Street is ranked by Rivals as the 16th overall prospect in the country and the 3rd best defensive end in nation.

So you'd assume a kid like that would probably have an ego, but to be honest, that's simply not the case.

"The kid is better than the football player," says Rose Head Coach Dave Wojtecki. "Usually when you get a great football player he's normally not the best character kid, but it's the total opposite with him."

Double team him, chip him, it doesn't really matter what you do. Kentavious Street is most likely going to find his way into the backfield on Friday night.

"He's a great player," said fellow senior defensive end Christian Pleasant. "I'm glad he's here. He's fast, athletic, strong and very explosive."

Just last year the star defensive end moved from Georgia. At that point he was just trying to fit in on an average JH Rose team. Now he leads a defense that's yet to give up double digit points and the attention is endless.

"It's just humbling and it keeps me hard working," said Street. "This whole recruiting process is a great thing but at the end of the day I know I'm just a normal student, normal athlete and I just need to keep working to get better each week."

Street has narrowed his down his college search to six schools. One in particular seems to be the clear cut favorite.

"One is NC State, number two is FSU, number three is Miami, number four is LSU, number five is Ole Miss and number six is Georgia Tech. That's the final," said Street.

When asked about what he liked about the Wolfpack Street replied " It's just a family environment. Wherever I go I want to feel like I'm at home. That's the most important part to me."

Kentavious Street and the JH Rose Rampants will travel to rival DH Conley this Friday. It is our game of the week and you can see all your highlights on Touchdown Friday!
