RALEIGH, N.C. -

Steve Martin with his banjo, Edie Brickell, and his band the Steep Canyon Rangers, charmed fans at a sold out Red Hat Amphitheater concert.

Fans drove from near and far to hear the comedian play.

Bret Page and his wife, Mary, live in downtown Raleigh.

Bret Paige said, "I started liking Steve Martin back when I was 6 years old." Mary Page said, "Not only is he a great comedian, but he's also a great actor."

For those who missed out on tickets, they didn't seem to mind as free concerts playing at City Plaza tonight, attracted the thousands.

It was this kind of excitement and enthusiasm that convinced the higher ups with the World of Bluegrass to come to Raleigh for the first time.

For long-time bluegrass fans like Stan Alford and new ones who never listened to bluegrass before, the week-long festival has made its mark.

Many we spoke with say they were disappointed it was over.

The World of Bluegrass, will be back again the next two years.
