Lakeland PD scandal prompts new complaint

Posted: Updated:
LAKELAND, FL (WFLA) -

Now unemployed and looking for work. Former Lakeland Police Department Crime Analyst Sue Eberle, who admits sexual encounters with cops, is now complaining, she got canned because she stepped up.

Her attorney says it all because she went to the top about sexual harassment. "We assert Sue Eberly's termination was in direct retaliation for her allegations of sexual misconduct and her forthright cooperation with the State's Attorney's Office.

The drum beat of calls for resignations on the part of Chief Lisa Womack, the Mayor and the City Manager, are getting louder.

State attorney Jerry Hill wants Womack's head. Other city commissioners are loosing confidence in the city administration.

Eberly's attorney says Womack's recent call for a "speak up culture" flies in the face of what is actually going on at LPD.

"There's one thing to say it. And there's another thing to do it. And I think actions speak much louder than words here with regard to really Chief Womack and what her true agenda is, said David Linesch.

Linesch filed a complaint with the EEOC, saying his client's firing is retaliation.

Chief womack fired back, saying Eberle was properly disciplined for not being truthful, and that she feels the appropriate discipline was handed out. She also says, she wants employees to come forward for the right reasons and feels they are getting there.

Eberle's attorney says, "speak up" is not reality. "We now know the hypocritical and blatantly insincere these remarks were" said Linesch.

The case could end up in federal court.
