Light freeze causing traffic delay at popular Greenville intersection

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. -

On Saturday, hundreds of cars faced an unexpected traffic jam in Greenville.

Around noon, the light at the intersection of Greenville Boulevard and Evans Street froze. For the cars traveling north and south on Evans Street, they were stuck at the red light for more than 20 minutes.

After several phone calls the Greenville Police Department came out direct traffic until an engineer could fix the problem.

While some may think this is just a normal technology hiccup, police tell 9 On Your Side this is ongoing problem at this intersection. Police say they have been called out to this intersection several times in the last couple of months for the same problems.

The problem on Saturday was fixed by 2.p.m.
