Hundreds in Outer Banks walk to protest government shutdown

Posted: Updated:

More than 100 people decided to take the government shutdown into their hands.

On Saturday, people who live and work near Cape Hatteras National Seashore used their feet to try and get the government's attention, by holding a peaceful protest.

People walked along Highway 12 in Buxton towards the National Seashore.  The protesters made signs asking the government reopen their access to the beach.

Hatteras Jack's owner, Ryan White helped organize the peaceful protest.

The walk lasted 45 minutes and the entire protest lasted about three hours.
