ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -

An inmate who escaped from the Fountain Correctional Center for Women in Rocky Mount has been captured by law enforcement.

Sheriff's deputies caught up with Misty Gardner in Onslow County just before 4 p.m. Monday.

Lawmen had been looking for her since she was last seen around 6:30 a.m. It’s believed she scaled a fence at the Fountain Correctional Center some time after that.

Gardner is from Onslow County. She's serving approximately 2 years for driving while intoxicated. She was scheduled for release in December.
