Wos readying for questions from NC legislature

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina health agency leaders are preparing for tough questions from state lawmakers.

Two General Assembly oversight committees scheduled all-day public meetings Tuesday with Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Aldona Wos and her top lieutenants.

Panel leaders want to hear from Wos about why problems have continued since the July 1 rollout of new Medicaid billing system called NCTracks. They also want to hear if things are being fixed with another computer program that has led to food stamp delays.

A health committee also wants Wos to address recent flaps over hiring high-priced contract workers. Legislators also are not happy with Gov. Pat McCrory refusal to carry out drug testing of more welfare applicants even though they overrode his veto of the bill.
