In its Notice to Proceed with Construction Activities issued October 4, FERC confirmed that Millennium has received all necessary federal authorizations needed for this project. Millennium received its notice to begin all construction activities on October 4, based upon the implementation plan it filed with the FERC on October 3, 2013.
"We are very pleased to move forward into construction on this important project that will help deliver more clean, natural gas to the Northeast," said Millennium President Rocco D'Alessandro. "We would like to thank the many supporters of this project, as well as all the regulators involved with helping this project move forward."
The Hancock Compressor project will be driven by one 15,700 horsepower natural gas turbine, which will increase the pressure and output capacity by 107,500 mcfd. Anchor shippers on this project are Southwestern Energy Services Company and WPX Energy.
Construction activities will commence immediately with a target in-service date of April 1, 2014. At the peak of construction, Millennium expects to have over 75 construction workers employed on-site, many of whom will come from local labor unions.
