KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) -

Kingsport Police are hoping the public can help identify a woman who stole a wallet at a local restaurant.

Investigators say on September 9, around 3:45 p.m., a woman left her wallet on the counter at McDonald's on Lynn Garden Drive, while she walked over to the drink filling station.

When she realized she had left her wallet, she returned to get it and realized it was gone.

Police say surveillance video shows a woman taking the wallet.

Kingsport Police ask anyone who is able to identify the woman in the photo, to contact them at 423-229-9429 or Kingsport Central Dispatch at 423-246-9111.

Police say this is a good reminder for citizens to always keep personal items of value secured on one's person when in a public place.
