Washington Co., TN family okay, pets missing after early morning house fire

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN (WJHL) -

A Washington County, Tennessee family is safe, but the search for several family pets continues at this hour after flames forced the family from their home Thursday morning.

Hours after the fire started you could still see the flames.

The family told News Channel 11 the fire destroyed their home on the corner of Highway 75 and Kyker Road in Washington County.

The family thinks a portable space heater next to a window started the fire however, investigators have not determined that at this point.

The family told me this isn't the first fire at the 175-year-old home.

They reported a grease fire there about 15 years ago.
