Detectives from the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office arrested a Cape Fear High School student for setting fire to a bathroom trash can.

DeOnte Jamar Liggons, 16, of Wade, is charged with burning of personal property, authorities said.

Liggons was seen on surveillance video entering and leaving the bathroom, police said. A school employee put the fire out shortly after.

Authorities said Liggons was released to the custody of his parents under a $3,000 secured bond.

Liggons is scheduled to make his first court appearance Oct. 11 in the Detention Center Courtroom.
