Town of Columbia prepares for 22nd Annual Scuppernong River Festival

COLUMBIA, N.C. -

Despite, the rainy weather, people in Tyrell County are preparing for the 22nd Annual Scuppernong River Festival.  

Crews were putting up tents, barricades, and signs in anticipation for Saturday’s day-long festival.

Professional sculptor, Allen Matsumoto also spent the day watering and preparing sand for his scuppernong-themed sand sculpture display.

The festival, which is named after a grape and the river, is set to kick off on Saturday morning with a parade through downtown Columbia.

Columbia town officials say the festival brings in more than 8,000 people to the more than 800 person town.
