New River observes 30th anniversary of Beirut attack

NEW RIVER AIR STATION, N.C. - Marine Corps Air Station New River honored Americans killed by terror on Friday.
The base saluted the more than 240 killed 30-years ago, when a terrorist attacked the military barracks in Beruit.

It happened October 23rd, 1983.
A U.S. peacekeeping force was living in the barracks.
Many of those killed were from Jacksonville, because Camp Lejeune's 24th Marine Amphibious Unit was also stationed there at the time.
The event allowed Marines a chance to learn more about what happened that day.
