A total of 42,763 people poured into the North Carolina State Fair on Thursday, narrowly short of last year's mark a few thousand short of the Thursday record.
The Fair has been open on Thursday since 2008. The record for the day was 47,677 in 2010. Last year, 42,854 went to the fair on Thursday.
The Fair drew 965,297 last year. The all-time high was 2010, when the Fair drew 1,091,887.
The biggest day ever for the Fair was the second Saturday in 2010, when a whopping 151,647 people elbowed their way into the event.
