CARY, N.C. -

A Cary salon raised money Sunday for a non-profit dedicated to improving the self-esteem and quality of life of people undergoing cancer treatments.

Twisted Scizzors salon offered free haircuts to cancer patients Sunday, and raised more than $800 for the non-profit Look Good Feel Better.

Stylist Amanda Kimball gave survivor Lori Ginsberg her first cut since her hair grew back during the cut-a-thon.

Ginsberg discovered a lump in her breast on Christmas Eve last year, and she began her cancer treatments in February. She has since been given a good prognosis because she found the cancer in the early stages.

"Early detection saves live, I am living proof," Ginsberg said. "I want to tell other women undergoing treatment to take care of yourself and treat yourself well through your journey, accept help from others and never give up hope."

Look Good Feel Better offers complimentary group, individual and self-help beauty sessions that create a sense of support, confidence, courage and community for women undergoing treatment for cancer.
