Lakeland Police Advisory Commission to give final report

Posted: Updated:
LAKELAND, FL (WFLA) -

The Lakeland Police Advisory Commission will present its final report to the city commissioners Monday. The panel appointed by the Mayor in July is a group of "business and civic leaders" digging into the issues in the Lakeland Police Department, and giving recommendations.

The group started after several scandals rocked the department. One of those, when an officer asked a woman to shake out her bra, so he could look for drugs. A sex scandal and several investigations into mid conduct, prompted several officers to either retire or be forced to leave the department.

Related: more about the LPD issues.

In past reports, the group said LPD needs to get back to more "value based" operations. They also supported Chief Lisa Womack, saying she inherited the problems, and didn't cause them.

City Manager, Doug Thomas, will also address the city commissioners Monday.
