KINSTON, N.C. - Police have arrested a man in a Tuesday night armed robbery.

It happened on West Vernon Ave. in Kinston.

The victim told officers he was pulling up to a friend’s home on Old Snow Hill Road when a man entered his vehicle on the passenger side and demanded money at knifepoint. The suspect then forced the driver to drive to a nearby bank on West Vernon.

The driver told police he saw the opportunity to get away from the suspect as he turned toward the bank and jumped from his still moving vehicle and ran to a nearby gas station to call for help.

A K-9 team tracked the suspect to an area near Northwest Elementary School and was taken into custody.

23-year-old Ralph Dunn was charged with Robbery With a Dangerous Weapon and 1st Degree Kidnapping. He was placed in the Lenoir County Jail under a $150,000 secured bond.
