In 1903, Theodore Roosevelt was President.  A stamp cost two cents.  And October 23rd of that year, Juanita Campbell was born.
Wednesday, family and friends gathered to celebrate her 110th birthday at the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital's long-term care facility.
A well-known fixture in the Erwin community, Campbell was serenaded over the phone by Country music legend Brenda Lee.

By all accounts, Juanita Key Campbell led a remarkable life.    Born in Knoxville, Juanita and her husband moved to Erwin where he worked as a funeral director for 50 years and where she  drove herself around town until the age of 98.

According to a news release, "Juanita is a great-great-great granddaughter of Francis Scott Key, author of "The Star-Spangled Banner," our national anthem."

On her birthday, Juanita professed to knowing the secret to a long life: chocolate.
