NEW BERN, N.C. - New Bern Police have obtained an arrest warrant for David King, 23, in connection with an afternoon shooting.

It happened around 4 p.m. near the intersection of Bay Street and Broad Street in New Bern.

Police have identified the victim as 25-year-old Rico Deon Ta Ford. Police say Ford told responding officers that he was walking in the area when he heard gunshots and realized he’d been struck in the leg. He managed to make it to the Five Points Mini Mart on Broad Street, where he called 911.

Ford's injuries appear to be non-life threatening.

Investigation into the incident is still underway. If you know of King's whereabouts, you're asked to call the New Bern Police Department Tips line at (252) 636-5034.
