Become a donor, save a life

Posted: Updated:

Nearly 3,500 people in North Carolina are on a waiting list for a life-saving organ transplant, and the list grows everyday. Nationally, there are more than 119,000 on the list.

On Saturday, Carolina Donor Services hosted an appreciation dinner in Durham to try and spread awareness about live organ donation.

You can become a donor at the DMV, or click here.

At the dinner, William Knight, a basketball coach from Greenville, NC, shared his emotional story of survival thanks to a kidney donation. With the help of the team, Olivia Dunn created the website kidneyforcoach.com to try and find her coach a kidney. Knight received his kidney, and is now using his story to inspire others.
