A Greenville Police Officer breaks up a dog attack by shooting and killing one of the dogs involved.

On Sunday morning, police got a call about a dog attack on Dupont Circle. A woman living there complained that two pit bulls were in her backyard attacking her lab.

When the officer arrived he observed two people trying to stop two pit bulls from violently attacking a chocolate lab. To stop the attack the officer jumped the fence and shot his gun, hitting the female pit bull.  The pit bull continued to attack the other dog and was shot two more times and died.

The other pit bull involved in the attack ran away, but was later captured. He is being taken to the Rollins Lab in Raleigh and has been deemed vicious.

The injured lab suffered life- threatening injuries and was taken to an emergency clinic.

One of the people who tried to stop the attack also suffered injuries to their hand, but did not receive any medical treatment. .
