WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN (WJHL) -

Some people who live in Jonesboroughare concerned a homeless shelter and drug rehab facility may be built in theirresidential neighborhood.

We spoke with Washington County MayorDan Eldridge, who said rest assured there are no such plans in the works.

The vacant County Farm property wasrumored to be getting redone.

We were told a flyer went out to the neighborhoodasking people to come to a meeting tomorrow night to have their voice heard.

Instead of the shelter, some wanted tosee the building converted in to a 4H educational center.

But Mayor Eldridge said none of thatis happening.

"The real issue we have at the CountyFarm is it has been out of use for many years. The building is not compliantwith current codes. There are a lot of renovations and improvements that needto be made just to make the building usable," Eldridge said.

He said it would be half a milliondollars just to make the building usable, and because of the cost he said thebuilding will remain vacant indefinitely.
