UPDATE: Church Hill police investigating shooting

A man from St. Louis, in our region to visit family - hit by a bullet as he walked down the road.

It happened November 17th in Church Hill

The victim continues the recovery process.

And police continue their investigation.
The 28-year-old was walking on Holliston Mills Road when he was hit by a 45 caliber bullet.

Church Hill Police Chief Mark Johnson told News Channel 11 the victim has been moved to an undisclosed medical facility, and investigators are not releasing his name.

"We feel good about the investigation at this part we feel like we have identified the person responsible," said Johnson.

But an arrest will not be immediate. Investigators want the victim's condition to improve before they pursue charges.


A man from the St. Louis area was shot in Church Hill Sunday night.

Church Hill Police Chief Mark Johnson said the 28-year-old victim was hit by a .45 caliber bullet around 8:30 p.m. Sunday while he was on foot on Holliston Mills Road, near the intersection with U.S. Highway 11W.

He called a family member who took him to the Holston Valley Medical Center emergency room. The police department found out about the shooting around 9:15 p.m. Sunday.

The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was in critical condition at the hospital.

He came to town last week to visit family for the holidays.
