RALEIGH, N.C. -

The Carolina Hurricanes announced Monday that the team has activated goaltender Cam Ward from injured reserve.

Ward is eligible to play Monday night against the Boston Bruins at 7 p.m.

The team has reassigned goaltender Mike Murphy to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.

Ward suffered a lower-body injury 4:07 into the first period of the Hurricanes' game on Oct. 24 in Minnesota. He missed 10 games with the injury.

Murphy, 24, is 1-2-0 with a 3.81 goals-against average in three games with Charlotte this season. The Kingston, Ont., native served as backup for 10 games, but did not appear in a game.
