Coach K has high praise for ECU

Posted: Updated:

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski had high praise for East Carolina's basketball program after his Blue Devils escaped past ECU, 83-74.

Krzyzewski told the gathered media that the Pirate basketball team "took on the personality of their coach (Jeff Lebo)". East Carolina whittled an 18-point lead down to just one in the second half before Duke prevailed.

"Some of the greatest people in the world are East Carolina fans," Krzyzewski added. He then joked that had his team lost Pirate fans at the beach might have given him gifts like bottles of wine.

Duke advanced to the NIT Season Tip-off semi-finals next week in New York.
