Chapel Hill inn to raise money for typhoon relief

Posted: Updated:
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -

A restaurant and bar inside a Chapel Hill landmark is doing its part to help victims of Typhoon Haiyan.

Officials say The Carolina Inn will donate 10 percent of Thursday's gross sales from its Carolina Crossroads Restaurant and Bar to the American Red Cross Philippine relief efforts assisting the typhoon victims.

The Philippines government said Wednesday that the typhoon killed more than 4,000 people and left 1,600 missing.

General Manager Mark Sherburne said the inn felt strongly that it should assist relief efforts in keeping with its history of supporting community effort.

Carolina Crossroads serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Donations can also be made online through the end of day Thursday at http://carolinainn.esitetoolbox.com/product/Donation.
