Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon to do 'Saturday Night Live' together

NEW YORK -

"Saturday Night Live" has an awesome Christmas present for viewers, and it's not a private part in a box, but close: the dynamic duo of Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon will be doing the Dec. 21 show.

NBC announced Thursday that the former "SNL" cast member will be hosting for the second time, while the musician will be back as musical guest for a fifth time.

But don't bet on JT being limited to just performing a tune or two, as most musicians do on the show. After all, he has performed hosting and musical duties in the past. In 2006, his hilarious skit "D--- in a Box" with Andy Samberg went viral and later won a Creative Arts Emmy.

The digital short became so popular that "SNL" featured Timberlake and Samberg in two more similar bits, 2009's "Motherlover" and "3-Way (The Golden Rule)" in 2011. The later skits proved just as popular, with"Motherlover" getting nearly 57 million views on YouTube to date, and "3-Way" with nearly 56 million.

Though Samberg left the show in 2012, that won't leave Timberlake without a comic and musical foil on the comedy show. The musician and late-night host Fallon have collaborated on four installments of "History of Rap," a medley of hip-hop music, on Fallon's "Late Night" show. In addition, they've poked fun at annoying hashtag conversations, and played brothers in the "SNL" skit "The Barry Gibb Talk Show," just to name a few projects.

Though the pre-Christmas pairing will likely have viewers' bellies jiggling like bowls full of jelly, they're not the only promising guests "SNL" has scheduled for December. "Anchorman" star Paul Rudd will host for his third time on Dec. 7, with musical guest One Direction. John Goodman returns Dec. 14th for his lucky 13th hosting gig, and Kings of Leon return to provide the live tunes that evening.

"SNL" is currently in its 39th season, and airs Saturdays at 11:30 on NBC.
